Guild Hall Undercroft

Guild Hall Undercroft – GUILD HALL, GUILDHALL HILL

Norwich Guildhall was built between 1407 and 1413, but the undercroft beneath it dates from the fourteenth century when a Tollhouse stood on the site.

It is built of brick and consists of 3 twin aisled bays under the east end of the building and 3 large barrel-vaulted side chambers beneath the western half of the building.

It was used as a dungeon for more dangerous criminals into the 17th century.
