(28) 52 Colegate Undercroft

NUMBER 52 COLEGATE
The building above was built in the early 19th century and was formerly a house but has now been converted into offices.

The undercroft is of brick construction and consists of two pointed barrel vaulted side chambers at the rear of the building.
One of them has been truncated at the right-hand side, possibly to accommodate a later fire escape. They are of low height and it may be that the floor has been raised at some time in the past.
The remainder of the cellar is unvaulted but has an oak beamed ceiling which is supported by two wooden posts.
Access to the undercroft is via stairs inside the building and it is in regular use for meetings.
