NUMBER 9-11 LONDON STREET
These 17th century houses were bought by Jarrolds a few years ago and incorporated into the store.

Beneath there are the remains of two 15th century pointed barrel-vaulted side chambers situated in the west end of the south wall. They extend beneath the pavement. They are built of brick and have flint rubble walls and are partially covered with lime mortar.
They are accessed from the book department along a passageway and are not in use.
A phase of activity involving the digging of small boundary gullies on this site in the 15th to 16th centuries may be associated with the construction of these side chambers (NHE).
