(34) 28 Lower Goat Lane (Grosvenor Fish Bar)

NUMBER 28 LOWER GOAT LANE
The building above the undercroft dates from the early 19th century and is currently a fish and chip shop.

According to the Planning Application in 2012 the English Heritage listing incorrectly gives it as being late 19th century.
The undercroft is probably from the 15th century but is not mentioned in the listing details.
It is of brick construction and consists of one pointed barrel-vaulted bay.
The undercroft is reached by stairs inside the shop.
The undercroft/cellar area has been modified in the late 20th century to enable it to be used as a restaurant.
Another section of the cellar has had corrugated metal sheeting fitted over the wall and ceiling and I could not tell whether this covered up another section of the undercroft.
It is open to the public when the shop is open.
