BISHOP’S PALACE (DE LOSINGA), THE CLOSE

Beneath the living quarters of De Losinga’s original palace building is a barrel vaulted undercroft with transverse ribs dating from early 12th century.
It consists of five bays and originally extended as far as the cathedral when the building above was connected to the cathedral in order to provide access for the bishop.
It is currently used as a boiler room.
